Trainers provide an incentive for Silvers to show up. Don’t keep a Silver waiting. You could be giving them a reason to find something more interesting to do.
Start with the big picture—an overview of how the body and mind benefit from physical activity. With their attraction to complexity and natural curiosity, Silvers wants to learn about exercise science, including new find-ings in physiology and neurology.
Make sessions interesting, enjoyable and fast paced. Although Silvers are serious about accomplishing their goals, they want the sessions to go by quickly.
Talking will not distract Silvers. As long as you’re making sense, they enjoy the banter and it helps keep their mind off the exercise.
Disguise exercise in the context of experiencing something new. Mix in cutting-edge activities and information.
Advise Silvers against too much monitoring, stops and starts. All this interferes with flow which is fundamental to fast paced Silvers. Silvers like to keep moving and don’t like to pack. Let them know they can arrive and leave the gym in their workout clothes.
Silvers naturally connect information. They will readily see mind/body/spirit connections and be attracted to activities in which they can make such connections. Include this aspect in communication and recommendations.
Silvers enjoy activities with additional layers of association. Encourage their engagement in activities in which they are exploring, planning, connecting with others or learning something new.
Feedback leads to improvement, and won’t be taken personally (in fact, Silvers take constructive criticism very well).
In a training session, start with activities that are fun, easy, and most enjoyable. Once Silvers begin, the momentum keeps them going. Starting is often the biggest obstacle.
Keep in Mind
Silvers with Efficiency seek a professional relationship primarily for the results. They expect a trainer to be competent and respond to difficult questions.
Silvers with Harmony look for fun, personal interaction with their trainers, and for someone they enjoy spending time with.
